College & Career Readiness for ALL
Students
West Valley High School wants all of its students to be both
college AND career ready upon graduation. Not only will students be
on a default A to G college track, they will also be able to take
courses that will give their high school diploma a career
focus.
In addition to teaching content standards, we also need to help
our students to become life-long learners who are skilled at
collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. We clearly
recognize that we are responsible for preparing our students for a
dramatically different future. Even though West Valley's
academic program is strong, we as educators consider a broader
picture for preparing students for college, career and
life.
It is our first step to ensure that our students will be
prepared for success in high school as well as after. In
order to ensure that they are prepared for life after graduation,
there are important skills they will need to acquire. We will
accomplish our goal by providing rigor and support as students
develop their ability to read, write and demonstrate a high level
of mathematical competence. Concurrently, we will provide
opportunities for our students to learn and apply important 21st
century skills.
